August 2008
   31st Edition
Vol. 3; Issue 7

Greetings from Colorful Colorado.  August brings the return to school, scheduling senior pictures and looking forward to the upcoming holiday season.  I had the pleasure of spending several days in Virginia and on the Eastern Shore with a very dear friend and we enjoyed the 83rd Annual Fireman’s Carnival, Pony Penning Celebration at Chincoteague.  To share every detail of my trip would consume this entire newsletter, I enjoyed a little beach and sun, the excitement of watching the military jets and dolphins off the shoreline of Virginia Beach. Highlighted with watching the round up of two of the herds of wild ponies at Chincoteague for the pony swim and auction.  I’m posting a few of the images for you to enjoy here.  This was without a doubt a priceless memory.

Did you know I do Destination Weddings?  If not, let me tell you, if you are getting married on the Cruise Ship, or on the Beach in Mexico, or even on the Ski Slopes of Lake Tahoe or anyplace outside Colorado, I do offer my services to provide quality professional photography.  The possibilities are endless in capturing your wedding memories while having a qualified professional photographer who is not an employee of the resort or ship.  Contact me for more information; I would love to talk about the options for these unique events.

Many of you know my passion for animals and I have watched some great things happen for a few organizations that share this passion with me.  Keep in your thoughts and prayers those groups who are endless in their efforts and can always use financial assistance. The Wags and Menace Make a Difference Foundation. This is a foundation who’s CEO Baxter with the help of his human assistant Cindy Lee work to raise money to assist shelters, foster care and animal hospitals. www.wagsandmenace.org The Denver Dumb Friends League www.ddfl.org The Colorado Thoroughbred Horse Rescue www.coloradotbrescue.org every little bit helps.   If you need more information on how to contact these organizations please feel free to use the link at the bottom of this page and contact me and I will gladly put you in touch with these groups.

Believe it or not we are quickly approaching the deadlines for 2009 Senior Pictures.  I’ve had the opportunity to work with some exceptional photographers from around the country who have shared their ideas and I’m excited to use some of these ideas in the 2009 Senior Promotion, contact me for more information. I am still looking for some Senior Reps for the Class of 2009 so if this is something you would like to be considered for drop me a note or give me a call. Now is the time to schedule your winter events and Annual Family portraits. Celebrate this spirit of rebirth with fresh new portraits. The children are all a year older and the new babies are crawling and walking as well as the anticipation of the new births that add to our ever-growing family. For just the right finishing touch to your home we can create a trio of portraits or perhaps consider a nice canvas for your wall.   Do you have a family event planned, a reunion, birthday party or celebration?  Schedule a professional portrait session to record your family for future generations. Now is the perfect time to capture your Family Portraits. Colorado is one of the most beautiful places I know and makes for breathtaking scenes for events from Weddings to Reunions and a wonderful backdrop for your family portraits. If you haven’t thought about freshening up your walls with new portraits, now is an excellent time to capture your images just in time for your holiday gatherings.

Pictage.com is proud to proclaim they are “Trusted by the Worlds’ Best Photographers”. I am one of their Professional Photographers. What does this do for my Clients; well by working with Pictage I am able to offer an incredible service to my clients. Once an event is scheduled, I register it on Pictage and once the images are ready for viewing, my clients, their friends and family can visit the site and view the images without leaving the comforts of their home or office. Individuals who visit the site before the images are ready for viewing can be added to the guest list and receive an e-mail notification once the images are ready to view.  To give some perspective on this; many weddings include guests from all over the country or world and having this service allows those guests the opportunity to not only view the beautiful images of the day but allows them to purchase any image they may want to keep as well. This is especially valuable when I am commissioned to photograph weddings or events outside of Colorado. Talk to me about this fabulous service I’m offering when scheduling your events and portraits, it is great and I am excited to be able to offer it to you.

Expectant Mothers, ask about our maternity portraits and how we can celebrate your pregnancy as well as the precious first portraits of life after the birth of your child.  These portraits are taken in the privacy of your home and are the heirlooms of the future.  I like to include any children you already may have in some of these portraits and would love to schedule a consult if you have an interest in capturing this type of portraiture. All Maternity Portrait settings include a free newborn setting once the baby comes home.  I like to plan these settings within the first 3 weeks coming home.

Our babies grow up so fast, we find they change literally before our eyes, our aging seniors cherish every opportunity they have to spend with their families and friends and the young families continue to mature and grow.  Each of these life events makes for perfect opportunities to capture your life story and seal the memories forever in photographs and portraits.   Ask us about the “Grow With Me” program.  The Grow With Me program is designed to capture priceless images during the first year of your new baby’s life.  This program also includes a Family Portrait session so for all you Mom’s and Dad’s, Grandma’s and Grandpa’s who take countless pictures of your family, here is the perfect opportunity to make sure you are included in the portrait with these special new editions to your family.

If you are looking for that special unique personalized gift, a gift certificate specifically designed by you for portraits is always a wonderful way to express your love.  Gift certificates have a year to be redeemed which allows for scheduling and will meet individual needs such as the expected birth of a baby, family reunion etc.  If you have a special Bride and Groom and you don’t know what to give, why not consider a portrait setting for after the honeymoon.  If that special couple has contracted with me to photograph their special day, you can also include a gift certificate to apply to their album or wall portraits, what a timeless gift. The possibilities are endless and I have many ideas to assist you if you want to discuss some options with me.

If you e-mail me and don’t hear back within the standard 24 hours, I may just be away from the Internet world.  However, if you do not hear from me within 3 days of your correspondence, please contact me again as this may be a computer problem and not a travel problem and I don’t want to miss you.

We are already planning for 2009 and 2010 Wedding Events. Use this reminder to plan ahead for your Special Events, Weddings, Senior Portraits, Family Reunions, and Annual Portraits.

Please visit my links pages for other professionals who might be of service to you. I have professionals who can help with nutritional and medical needs for you and your pets. I have professionals who are leaders in their field to give you the finest in Special Occasion Cakes, Flowers and more.  It is exciting for me to include individuals who have earned my trust and personal business and I am eager to share with you, my friends and clients these special people and their special talents and services.

I am lucky to have the opportunity to spend some time at the Colorado Thoroughbred Horse Rescue in Wellington, Colorado.  They have saved some beautiful horses and have found homes for many of them; a few are still available for adoption.  If you are looking for a horse or would like to add another horse to your barn or simply would just like to contribute with a donation to help with the costs associated with the daily expenses, The Colorado Thoroughbred Horse Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization and your contributions are tax deductible. Please contact them at http://www.coloradotbrescue.org. Your donations are much appreciated. We will be looking to assist them in some joint ventures to help raise some funds to save these horses soon, please keep this organization in your thoughts and prayers so their efforts can continue.

I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America, (PPA), The Professional Photographers of Colorado (PPC), Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) and I also support the Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep program.

When you write your stories don’t forget to include professional portraits of these life events to cherish for years to come. I am so looking forward to being part of your lives, making your memories last forever. Thanks again for visiting and as always thank you for your confidence and patronage.

Regards,

Katherine

In Loving Memory of my dear sweet Sonja.

We lost our Sonja on Saturday, July 22, 2006. Sonja had been suffering with cancer for the past 5 years and about 10 days ago we discovered a new tumor which was not like the other.  This tumor was growing fast and causing Sonja great pain, the option of surgery would only give us a maybe and with her age of 15 years old, the reality of what was best for her was not exactly what I had in mind. Sonja was by every definition the "Greatest Dog" She was the Alpha MOM to Excalibur and was our little girl.  She had kisses like velvet and there wasn't a person she couldn't make happy and smile.  That was how she got her nickname of "Happy Dog".  The heartbreak that has come with her passing is extremely heavy, she and Excalibur were my constant companions.  Our home dearly misses this little girl that we loved for so many years.
