| Katherine Payne Photography is owned and operated by Katherine Payne. Katherine is a Professional Photographer having served Colorado for over 25 years. She holds a special interest in Weddings and Portraiture. Katherine lives in Colorful Colorado, outside of Boulder with her husband, Lyle, her dog, Affenbär Excalibur’s Apprentice aka Perrie and her cat, Shelby. Katherine is a Colorado Native.
Katherine Payne is a Kodak Professional Photographer, a Fuji Professional and member of the Professional Photographers of Colorado (PPC), a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), a member of Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI), and Professional Photographers of Greater New York (PPGNY).
Katherine is an Area Coordinator and Professional Affiliated Photographer with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.
Katherine is the Creator and Leader of the Denver Help-Portrait Group, giving back with portraits to those less fortunate now planning for a fourth year in a row.
Katherine also works with Portraits of Love, providing portraiture to the families of our Men and Women serving in our US Military.
Katherine was selected as one of the Professional Photographers for both auctions in 2011 for the Thirst Relief Mentor Auction which in the November Auction Raised over $35,000 to help provide clean drinking water for 6995 people for at least 25 years.
Katherine is an Award Winning Photographer, she published her 365 Photographic Arts Collection in December 2012 along with the DVD series.

Meet Perrie ~ Affenbär Excalibur’s Apprentice
Perrie was born May 16, 2011 in Washington State and is a Newfoundland pup that Excalibur hand selected to join our home. I say hand selected as Excalibur was Rottie, he was Alpha and he was my 24/7 companion. Excalibur was service and protection trained, he went nearly everywhere with me and he was "The Best Dog In The World". As his years and health were starting to fail, we were not looking for another dog but this then little pup was needing a home and it was obvious when Excalibur met Perrie, Perrie was the right addition to our home, he even gave Excalibur a second wind of puppy hood, during his last month. Perrie came to the Payne household on Excalibur's 10th birthday and when we had to say goodbye to Excalibur on October 5th due to a bleeding tumor in his spleen, Perrie had to "Paw up" as the dog of the house. He is Noble just like Excalibur, he is strikingly handsome, just like Excalibur and he is Mama's boy, just like Excalibur. He was well suited to be named Excalibur's Apprentice.

Regarding Weddings and Portraits –
I am truly honored to be allowed the opportunity to photograph your Weddings and Portraits. These special days in our lives are life events and those memories only come around once in a lifetime and you must be confident in the photographer that you hire to capture these moments in time to tell your story. I can promise you I will give you the same service that I want for myself which is my very best in capturing your memories and recording your stories.
Colorado offers one of the most beautiful backdrops for Portraits and Weddings. We cherish these memories as they are made and they become our heirlooms in the years to come. I offer destination event coverage so if you wedding is not in Colorado, you can still have me capture your memories to last a lifetime.
Regarding Pet Photography and Equine Photography –
Several years ago a good friend of mine asked me if I would take her family portrait. Her family was her bunnies, her dog and herself. She told me that my talents for portraits should not just be used on the two legged models and ultimately she gave me the confidence to open the door to expanding my Professional Photography Business to Pets, not just Dogs and Cats. - Thanks Tammi - I Love and Miss You.
Equine Photography is not just for someone who loves to see horses with a camera ready to take their picture. You need to know horses and know how to be around horses, be it a Wild Mustang or a large Clydesdale, Percheron or Shire, these are several hundred pound animals, they are big and they are beautiful. I have a strong history working with the horses and photographing them, I would not recommend just anyone walking into or up to one of these animals and expect to have them "Pose" for their portraits, so don't be fooled, make sure you have someone familiar and willing to know your horses capture images of your horses.
Giving Back -
A major part of who I am is what I give back. I believe those gifts we give and share will not only be kept forever in the hearts and minds of those receiving them but create a level of personal growth and success that cannot be measured monetarily. That being said, I take great pride and am honored to be a Professional Photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.
